  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast, cut into 1 lb (0.45 kg) (0.45 kg) chunks
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
