Monte Cristo Sliders

Monte Cristo sliders are a delicious variation of the classic Monte Cristo sandwich, transformed into bite-sized sliders. The traditional Monte Cristo sandwich is a ham and cheese sandwich that is dipped in egg batter and then fried or grilled. It is often served with powdered sugar and raspberry jam. The sliders version is perfect for parties, appetizers, or a fun twist on the original.

Here’s a basic recipe for Monte Cristo sliders:

Ingredients:

  • 12 slider buns
  • 1/2 pound sliced ham
  • 1/2 pound sliced turkey
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 6 slices Gouda cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Raspberry jam, for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping them connected as one piece.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and honey. Spread this mixture on the bottom half of the slider buns.
  4. Layer the sliced ham and turkey on the bottom half of the buns, followed by the Swiss and Gouda cheese slices.
  5. Place the top half of the buns on the cheese to create sandwiches.
  6. Arrange the sliders in a baking dish and brush the tops with melted butter.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Dust the tops with powdered sugar.
  9. Serve the Monte Cristo sliders warm with a side of raspberry jam for dipping.

These sliders are a delightful blend of sweet and savory flavors, reminiscent of the classic Monte Cristo sandwich. They make for a great party appetizer or a tasty twist on a traditional sandwich. Enjoy!
