Star Top
Round 1: Make a magic ring. Crochet 10 single crochets into the ring. Join with a slip stitch.
Round 2: Crochet 1 single crochet, then increase around. Join.
Round 3: Create 5 star points by working a combination of double crochet, treble crochet, double crochet and slip stitch for each point. Repeat around and fasten off.
Spiral Body
- Chain approximately 35–45 stitches for a medium ornament.
- Work 2–3 double crochets into each chain stitch to create a naturally curling spiral.
- Continue until the desired length is reached.
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.
- If using multiple colors, crochet separate spiral strips in red, green and white, then twist them together to create the candy-cane effect.
Assembly
Attach the top of the spiral securely to the center of the crochet star.
Sew the star and spiral together with matching yarn.
Make a chain of approximately 15–20 stitches for the hanging loop and attach it to the top of the star.
Gently shape the spiral so it hangs evenly.
Tip: For the same look as the picture, use thick yarn and keep the spiral stitches tight and evenly spaced.
