Part 1: Crochet the Floral Granny Square

Round 1 – Center Ring

CH 5, join with SL ST to form a ring.

CH 3 (counts as first DC), work 15 DC into the ring. Join with SL ST. (16 DC)

Round 2 – Flower Petals

CH 3, work 3 DC into the same stitch, leaving the last loop of each stitch on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all loops to create a puff-style cluster.

CH 2, skip 1 ST, repeat around to create 8 petals. Join.

Round 3 – Openwork Flower

Join yarn in any CH-2 space.

Work (3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC) into the first space.

CH 2, work 3 DC into the next space.

Continue around, forming four corners and four sides.

Round 4 – Square Formation

In each corner space, work (3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC).

Along each side, work groups of 3 DC separated by CH 1.

Join with SL ST.

Rounds 5–8 – Textured Border

Continue expanding the square:

  • Work 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC in each corner.
  • Work DC stitches along the sides.
  • Alternate solid DC rows with decorative CH-1 spaces.
  • Keep all four sides equal.

Round 9 – Final Edge

Work 1 SC into each stitch and (SC, CH 2, SC) into each corner.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Each finished square should measure approximately 20 × 20 cm after blocking.

Part 2: Make the Bedspread

Crochet approximately 110 granny squares.

Arrange them into 10 columns and 11 rows for a square panel measuring approximately 200 × 220 cm.

Join squares using a flat slip-stitch join or single-crochet join.

For a decorative raised seam like the photograph, join squares with SC through both loops, keeping the seam visible on the front.

Part 3: Crochet the Border

Round 1: Work SC evenly around the entire bedspread, placing 3 SC into each corner.

Round 2: CH 3, work DC in every stitch around.

Round 3: Work SC, skip 2 ST, 5 DC into next ST, skip 2 ST; repeat around, adjusting at corners to create a scalloped edge.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Finishing

Soak the finished bedspread in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Gently squeeze out excess water without twisting. Lay flat, shape the squares, and allow to dry completely.

For the closest visual result, use a warm caramel or camel-brown yarn, maintain consistent tension, and block every square before assembly.

Result: A luxurious handmade floral granny-square bedspread with dimensional texture, elegant geometric patterns, and a soft decorative edge.
