Soft Butter Cookies with Sweet Glaze

Soft Butter Cookies with Sweet Glaze
These soft butter cookies have a tender, melt-in-the-mouth center with lightly golden edges, finished with a smooth, glossy sugar glaze that gently drips over the top. They are perfect for tea time, holidays, family gatherings, or even for selling, as they stay soft for several days.
Ingredients
You will need 1 cup unsalted butter, softened, 1 cup granulated sugar, ½ cup brown sugar, 2 large eggs at room temperature, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt.
For the glaze, prepare 1½ cups powdered sugar, 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a small pinch of salt if desired.
Preparation Method
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking trays with parchment paper. In a large bowl, cream the butter with the granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently just until combined. Scoop medium portions of dough, place them on the prepared trays, and leave space between each cookie.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden while the centers remain soft. Allow the cookies to cool slightly before glazing.
Glazing and Serving
To make the glaze, whisk the powdered sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth and pourable. Spoon the glaze over the cookies and let it set for about 20 minutes. Serve once the glaze has firmed, and enjoy their rich buttery flavor and soft texture.
