Sweet Potato Pie

A classic, creamy Southern-style dessert with warm spices and a flaky crust

Ingredients

For the filling

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 2–3 medium sweet potatoes)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt

For the crust

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sweet potatoes
Peel and cut sweet potatoes into chunks. Boil in water until very tender (about 15–20 minutes). Drain well and mash until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  2. Make the filling
In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, evaporated milk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger (if using), and salt.
    Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Fill the crust
Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust and smooth the top.
  4. Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50–60 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted comes out mostly clean.
  5. Cool
Let the pie cool completely before slicing so it sets properly.

Optional Toppings

  • Whipped cream
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg

Warm, silky, and perfectly spiced — this Sweet Potato Pie is comfort in dessert form 😍
