Yarn: Fine cotton crochet thread in white, turquoise, and light aqua
Hook: 1.75–2.25 mm, adjusted to your yarn
Additional Materials: Small white/clear beads, needle, sewing thread, scissors, and a hanging cord
Center Motif
Using white yarn, make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, work 12 dc into the ring. Sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.
Round 2: Ch 3. Work 1 dc in the same stitch, then 2 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st.
Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in the next stitch, skip 1 stitch, 5 dc in the next stitch, skip 1 stitch. Repeat around. Join with a sl st.
This creates the first small scalloped flower shape.
Turquoise Snowflake Layer
Attach turquoise yarn between two scallops.
Sc in the next space, hdc, dc, ch 2, dc, hdc, sc in the same space.
Repeat around to create six decorative points.
For the longer snowflake arms, work additional chains and stitches outward from the spaces between the motifs. Shape each arm with a combination of sc, hdc, dc, and tr, keeping the design symmetrical.
Light-Aqua Leaf Details
Attach light-aqua yarn around the center motif.
For each leaf:
Ch 7, starting in the second chain from the hook, work:
sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc
Then work the same stitches along the opposite side of the chain to form a pointed leaf.
Repeat around the motif, positioning the leaves between the turquoise snowflake sections.
White Outer Snowflake
Attach white yarn to the outer edge.
Create six larger arms:
Sc in the next space, hdc, dc, tr, ch 3, tr, dc, hdc, sc.
For a more elaborate pointed finish, add small chains and slip stitches along each side of the arm to create the delicate branch-like appearance shown in the photo.
Repeat for all six arms.
Decorative Beads
Sew small clear or white beads securely onto the tips of the snowflake arms.
Add turquoise or aqua beads near the upper hanging section for extra sparkle.
Hanging Loop
At the top point, attach white yarn and chain 30–35 stitches.
Join the chain back to its base with a slip stitch to create a hanging loop.
For the bead decoration above the snowflake, thread a large turquoise bead followed by a smaller white bead onto the hanging cord and secure them firmly.
Finishing
Lightly block the finished snowflake so all six points and leaves lie flat and symmetrical.
Weave in all loose ends and trim them neatly.
The finished ornament can be hung on a Christmas tree, wreath, garland, or gift package.
