Classic Deviled Eggs

These creamy deviled eggs are easy to make, beautifully seasoned, and perfect for parties, holidays, picnics, or family gatherings. The smooth yolk filling pairs perfectly with tender egg whites and a light sprinkle of paprika.

Ingredients

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard or Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon pickle relish, optional
  • Chopped chives or parsley, optional for garnish

Instructions

1. Boil the eggs

Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water by about 2–3 cm.

Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover the pan, remove it from the heat, and let the eggs sit for about 10–12 minutes.

Transfer the eggs immediately to a bowl of ice water and leave them for 5–10 minutes. This stops the cooking process and makes them easier to peel.

2. Peel and cut the eggs

Peel the cooled eggs carefully.

Slice each egg in half lengthwise.

Gently remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl. Arrange the egg-white halves on a serving platter.

3. Prepare the filling

Mash the egg yolks with a fork until finely crumbled.

Add the mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, black pepper, and paprika.

Mix until the filling is smooth and creamy.

If desired, stir in a little pickle relish for extra flavor.

Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

4. Fill the egg whites

Spoon the yolk mixture into the egg-white halves.

For a more professional presentation, transfer the filling to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe it neatly into each egg.

5. Garnish

Sprinkle each deviled egg lightly with paprika.

Add chopped parsley or chives if desired.

6. Chill and serve

Refrigerate the deviled eggs for about 20–30 minutes before serving for the best flavor and texture.

Serve chilled.

Total: About 35–40 minutes

Yield: 24 deviled egg halves

Tips for Perfect Deviled Eggs

For an extra-creamy filling, add another tablespoon of mayonnaise. If the filling becomes too soft, add a little more mashed yolk. For a slightly tangier flavor, increase the mustard or vinegar. You can also add a tiny pinch of garlic powder, onion powder, hot sauce, or smoked paprika.

Keep the finished deviled eggs refrigerated until ready to serve.
