  • White worsted-weight yarn
  • Green yarn
  • Brown yarn
  • Beige/tan yarn
  • Black yarn
  • Orange yarn
  • Pink yarn

1. Red and White Spiral Garland

The mobile uses several long spiral sections that wrap around the center cord.

Red Spiral

Chain approximately 120–160 stitches, depending on the desired length.

Work:

  • 3–4 double crochet into each chain stitch
  • Continue without turning
  • The chain will naturally curl into a spiral.

Fasten off and leave a long tail for attaching.

White Spiral

Repeat the same process with white yarn.

For the pictured effect, make the white spiral slightly shorter than the red spiral.

Joining the Spirals

Place the red and white spirals together and loosely twist them around each other.

Sew them together at several points so they maintain the candy-cane appearance while remaining flexible.

Make approximately 3–5 spiral sections of different lengths for the hanging mobile.

2. Center Hanging Cord

Cut a strong cord long enough to support the entire decoration.

Attach it securely to the center of the wooden ring.

Leave the cord running vertically through the middle of the mobile.

The spiral garlands should be attached at different heights around this central cord.

3. Crochet Christmas Tree

Use green yarn.

Tree Layers

For the top:

  • Make a small magic ring.
  • 6 single crochet into the ring.
  • Increase evenly around.
  • Continue crocheting in rounds while gradually increasing.

Create several progressively larger cone-shaped sections.

Use front-loop or textured stitches around the edges to create the layered branches.

Sew the sections together to form a small Christmas tree.

Add:

  • Small red and gold beads as ornaments
  • A small gold star on top
  • A short hanging loop

4. Santa Claus

Use beige, red, white, black and pink yarn.

Embroider small black eyes.

Add a tiny pink nose and rosy cheeks.

With red yarn:

  • Crochet a small cone

Crochet a small rounded body in red.

Add a white trim around the bottom.

Embroider a black belt around the middle and add a small gold buckle.

Attach the head to the body.

  • Crochet several rounds
  • Decrease gradually
  • Stuff firmly

  • Small beige muzzle

Antlers

With brown yarn, crochet narrow chains and work single crochet back along them.

Branch the pieces to create two antlers.

Sew them securely to the top of the head.

Scarf

Using red yarn, make a small chain approximately 20–25 stitches long.

Work several rows of single crochet.

Wrap around the reindeer’s neck and sew in place.

Add small white fringe to the ends.

Add a red scarf around the neck.

Beak and Feet

Use orange yarn to make:

  • One small triangular beak
  • Two small feet

Sew them securely to the body.

7. Gingerbread Man

Crochet a small simplified gingerbread shape:

  • Head
  • Body
  • Two arms
  • Two legs

Stuff lightly and close securely.

Decorate with white yarn:

  • Face
  • Icing around the arms
  • Icing around the legs
  • Small buttons

Decorate with contrasting crochet stripes and small gold beads.

Add a small gold-colored loop at the top.

Make 2–3 baubles in different color combinations.

9. Crochet Snowflakes

Use white cotton yarn.

A simple six-arm snowflake can be made with chains and slip stitches.

Basic Snowflake

  • Magic ring
  • Chain 3
  • Work double crochet clusters around the ring

10. Small Gold Bells

Attach small gold jingle bells to the ends of selected spiral sections.

Make sure each bell is securely attached.

11. Red Yarn Tassel

Cut approximately 30–40 strands of red yarn.

Fold them in half around a small piece of cord.

Tie the top tightly.

Wrap another piece of red yarn around the upper section to create the tassel head.

Trim the bottom evenly.

Attach it to the lowest point of the central hanging cord.

12. Assembly

Attach the decorations at different heights:

  • Poinsettia flower at the top
  • Christmas bauble near the upper spiral
  • Snowflake
  • Christmas tree
  • Reindeer
  • Santa
  • Penguin
  • Gingerbread man
  • Additional baubles and snowflakes
  • Red tassel at the bottom

Arrange the pieces so they hang freely and do not touch each other.

Finally, attach the complete mobile to the wooden ring and check that the weight is balanced.

Poinsettia Topper

For the flower at the very top, use red yarn.

Create several pointed petals using chains and double/triple crochet stitches.

Make approximately 6–8 red petals and sew them together around a small center.

Add green leaves behind the flower.

Finish the center with small gold beads.

Attach the poinsettia firmly to the wooden ring.

Finishing

Carefully block the crochet pieces so they hold their shapes.

Hide all yarn ends inside the pieces.

Check every hanging connection and reinforce the stitching where necessary.

The finished mobile should have a red-and-white candy-cane spiral flowing from the wooden ring down toward the tassel, with the Christmas characters and ornaments distributed vertically as shown in the reference image.
