Christmas Spiral Tree Hanging Ornament

Materials: 2.5–3 mm crochet hook, cotton or acrylic yarn in red/green/gold/white, small gold bead, jingle bell, yarn needle, scissors, and optional holly berries.

Abbreviations: MR = magic ring, ch = chain, sl st = slip stitch, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, inc = 2 stitches in the same stitch.

Top Star

Start with a MR.
Round 1: Ch 1, work 10 sc into MR, join with sl st.
Round 2: Repeat 5 times: ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next, dc in last ch, then sl st into the next 2 stitches of the center.
Fasten off.

For the white snowflake, crochet a tiny 6-arm snowflake separately and sew it onto the center of the star.

Spiral Christmas Tree

Ch 65–75, depending on how long you want the ornament.

Row 1: Work 2 dc in each chain across. The strip will begin curling naturally.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn and work 1 sc in each stitch across for a firm decorative edge.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Twist the crocheted strip into a loose Christmas-tree spiral, making the top narrow and gradually widening toward the bottom. Run a strong yarn strand vertically through the center to hold the spiral shape.

bottom Bell

With white yarn:

Round 1: MR, 6 sc.
Round 2: Inc around = 12 sc.
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) × 6 = 18 sc.
Rounds 4–6: 18 sc around.
Round 7: (2 sc, inc) × 6 = 24 sc.
Round 8: 24 sc around.
Round 9: (3 sc, inc) × 6 = 30 sc.
Round 10: Work 30 sc or reverse sc around for a decorative rim.

Fasten off.

Add two small green leaves and 3 red berries to the front. Attach a small jingle bell underneath.

Assembly

Make a hanging cord about 20–25 cm long. Attach it to the star, add a decorative bead below the star, connect the spiral tree, then sew the white bell to the bottom. Finish with the metal jingle bell.

For the three-color set shown in the photo, make the same pattern in Christmas red, champagne gold, and emerald green.
