Blue Ivory Floral Crochet Table Runner

An original pattern inspired by your photo, with blue circles, ivory lace medallions, raised flowers, green leaves, and blue bobble edging. This is an untested interpretation, not the exact pattern used in the image.

Materials

  • Sport-weight cotton yarn: ivory 250–300 g, dusty blue 200–250 g, dark blue 50 g, olive green 50 g
  • 3 mm crochet hook, or a size suitable for your yarn
  • Yarn needle, scissors, and blocking pins

Finished size: approximately 30 × 100 cm, depending on yarn, tension, and arrangement.

US crochet terms

ch = chain; sl st = slip stitch; sc = single crochet; hdc = half double crochet; dc = double crochet; tr = treble crochet; inc = 2 stitches in one stitch.

Beginning ch 3 counts as a dc. Join rounds with a sl st unless otherwise stated.

1. Blue circle motifs — make 4

Work in dusty blue.

Round 1: Make a magic ring, ch 3, work 11 dc into the ring. Join. (12 dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc into the same stitch, 2 dc in every remaining stitch. (24 dc)

Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in the next stitch; repeat [dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch] around. (36 dc)

Round 4: Work [dc in next 2 stitches, inc] around. (48 dc)

Round 5: Work [dc in next 3 stitches, inc] around. (60 dc)

Round 6: Work [dc in next 4 stitches, inc] around. (72 dc)

Round 7: Work [dc in next 5 stitches, inc] around. (84 dc)

Round 8: Work [dc in next 6 stitches, inc] around. (96 dc)

Change to ivory.

Round 9: Ch 1, sc in every stitch around. (96 sc)

Fasten off.

2. Ivory lace medallions — make 4

Round 1: In a magic ring, ch 3 and work 11 dc. Join. (12 dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, ch 2; repeat [dc in next stitch, ch 2] 11 times. Join to the top of beginning ch 3. (12 dc, 12 spaces)

Round 3: Sl st into the first space. Ch 3, dc in the same space, ch 3; work [2 dc in next space, ch 3] around. Join. (24 dc, 12 spaces)

Round 4: Sl st into the next dc, then into the first space. Ch 3, dc in the same space, ch 5; work [2 dc in next space, ch 5] around. Join.

Round 5: Sl st into the next dc, then into the first space. Ch 3, 2 dc in the same space, ch 5; work [3 dc in next space, ch 5] around. Join. (36 dc, 12 spaces)

Round 6: Ch 1. Work sc in each dc and 5 sc in each ch-5 space. (96 sc)

Fasten off. Block gently into a flat circle. These medallions may differ slightly in diameter from the blue circles.

3. Layered flowers — make 3

Make three separate layers for each flower.

For each layer:

  • Make a magic ring and work 8 sc into it. Join.
  • Ch 1. Work [sc in next stitch, ch 3] eight times. Join to the first sc. (8 loops)
  • Work the petals below into each loop.

Large ivory layer: [sl st, ch 2, 2 dc, 2 tr, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st].

Medium dusty-blue layer: [sl st, ch 2, 5 dc, ch 2, sl st].

Small dark-blue layer: [sl st, ch 1, 4 hdc, ch 1, sl st].

Fasten off with long sewing tails. Stack the layers, offsetting the petals, and sew through their centers. Add a few dark-blue embroidery stitches to close the center.

4. Leaves — make 12–18

With olive green, ch 10.

Starting in the second chain from the hook, work:

sc, hdc, dc, tr, tr, dc, hdc, sc, 3 sc in the final chain.

Continue along the opposite side of the foundation chain:

sc, hdc, dc, tr, tr, dc, hdc, sc.

Sl st to the first sc. Fasten off, leaving a sewing tail. Stitch a vein along the center if desired.

5. Assemble the runner

Block all circles before assembly.

Arrange the eight motifs in a staggered, overlapping line, alternating blue and ivory. Aim for a gentle left-right curve similar to the photo.

Overlap neighboring edges by approximately 2–3 cm. Pin the arrangement flat, then whipstitch securely through the overlapping sections without pulling tightly.

Sew the flowers over three joins. Tuck the leaves beneath their petals and secure each leaf at its base and center.

6. Blue bobble edging

Attach dusty-blue yarn to an exposed outer edge.

Work sc in the next 4 edge stitches, then make a bobble:

Ch 3. Work 5 dc into the third chain from the hook. Remove the hook from the working loop, insert it through the first dc, retrieve the loop, and pull it through. Ch 1 to secure. Sl st into the same chain used for the 5 dc.

Continue with sc in the next 4 edge stitches and repeat the bobble.

Follow only the exposed outline of the assembled runner. Adjust spacing near joins so the border lies flat.

Weave in all ends and lightly block again, shaping the flowers by hand without flattening their petals.
