Brown Sugar Pork Chops
Ingredients
4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper for heat
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick better and gives a nice caramelized finish.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder, and cayenne if using.
- Brush both sides of each pork chop with melted butter.
- Generously coat both sides of the pork chops with the brown sugar mixture, pressing it gently so it sticks well.
- Arrange the chops in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, depending on thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
- For extra caramelization, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end — watch carefully so the sugar doesn’t burn.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Serving Suggestions
These chops pair beautifully with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, rice, or a fresh green salad. The sweet glaze also goes perfectly with buttery corn or garlic green beans.
Tips for Success
Use thick chops for juicier results.
Let the meat rest before slicing to keep it tender.
If cooking on the stovetop, sear in a skillet over medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side until cooked through.
Sweet, savory, buttery, and slightly smoky — this recipe turns simple pork chops into something seriously special. Enjoy!
