The photo appears to show thick pork chops topped with applesauce. Here’s a recipe to recreate it.
Ingredients — serves 4
- 4 thick-cut pork chops, about 1 inch thick
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey, optional
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pat the pork chops dry. Rub with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.
- Place in a baking dish. Mix the applesauce with the mustard and optional sugar or honey, then spoon over the chops.
- Dot with butter. Bake for 20–30 minutes, depending on thickness, until the center reaches 145°F (63°C) on a meat thermometer.
- Rest for 3 minutes before serving. Spoon the pan juices over the chops.
Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans.
For homemade applesauce: simmer 3 peeled, chopped apples with ¼ cup water for 15–20 minutes, until soft, then mash.
