Ingredients

For the apples
4 to 5 apples peeled cored and sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

For the batter
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

For topping
Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat oven to 180°C 350°F and grease a round cake pan

In a pan melt butter add sliced apples sugar and cinnamon cook for 5 to 7 minutes until slightly soft and caramelized

Arrange the apples evenly in the prepared pan

In a bowl whisk eggs and sugar until light and creamy

Add melted butter milk and vanilla and mix well

In another bowl combine flour baking powder and salt then gradually add to the wet mixture

Pour the batter gently over the apples in the pan

Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden and set in the center

Let cool slightly then dust with powdered sugar

Slice and serve warm or at room temperature
