SNOWFLAKE CENTER
Use white yarn.
Round 1
Make a magic ring.
Chain 3, which counts as the first double crochet.
Work 11 dc into the ring.
Slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain 3.
12 dc total.
Round 2
Chain 3.
Work 1 dc in the same stitch.
Chain 1.
Work 2 dc in the next stitch.
Repeat around the entire circle.
Slip stitch to the beginning chain 3.
You should have 12 groups of 2 dc separated by chain-1 spaces.
WHITE SNOWFLAKE PETALS
The snowflake has six main points.
Round 3
Slip stitch into the next chain-1 space.
Chain 3.
Work 2 dc in the same space.
Chain 2.
Work 3 dc in the same space.
Chain 2.
Work 3 dc in the same space.
Continue around, creating six sections.
Slip stitch to the beginning.
Round 4
For each point, work:

Slip stitch into the valley between the points.
Repeat around all six points.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
NAVY BLUE BORDER
Attach navy yarn between two snowflake points.
Work sc evenly around the entire snowflake.
At each point, work 2 sc around the tip.
At each valley, work:
slip stitch
chain 1
slip stitch
Continue around the entire snowflake.
For a thicker border, add another round of sc.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
PEARL TIPS
Sew one small pearl bead onto the end of each of the six snowflake points.
CENTER DECORATION
Sew a large clear rhinestone or faceted decorative bead into the center of the snowflake.
Surround the center with approximately 8–12 small clear or silver beads.
Make sure the center decoration is firmly secured.
HANGING LOOP
Attach navy yarn to the top point of the snowflake.
Chain approximately 35–40 stitches.
Slip stitch back into the top of the snowflake.
For a thicker hanging cord, make two chains and twist them together.
Secure the ends firmly.
BEADED DROPS
Make four or five decorative hanging drops.
For each drop, cut approximately 35–45 cm of strong beading thread.
Thread the following:
1 small pearl
2–3 clear round beads
1 faceted teardrop bead
Attach the thread securely to the lower edge of the snowflake.
Make the drops different lengths.
A suitable arrangement is two shorter drops on the sides, two medium drops toward the center, and one longer drop in the middle.
TWISTED CROCHET CORD
Make one navy strip and one white strip.
Navy strip
Chain 75.
Starting in the second chain from the hook, work sc across.
Fasten off.
White strip
Repeat using white yarn.
Place the two strips together and twist them around each other to create the spiral effect.
Attach the top of the twisted cord to the center bottom of the snowflake.
Secure the two strands together every 15–20 cm with a few small stitches.
BEADS ON THE SPIRAL
Add clear beads along the twisted cord.
Alternate small pearls, clear beads, and faceted beads.
Place the beads at different heights to reproduce the decorative effect.
SMALL BLUE AND WHITE BALL
Use navy yarn.
Round 1
Make a magic ring.
6 sc into the ring.
Round 2
2 sc in each stitch.
12 sc.
Round 3
sc around.
12 sc.
Round 4
sc, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat around.
18 sc.
Round 5
sc around.
18 sc.
Round 6
sc, sc2tog, repeat around.
12 sc.
Round 7
sc2tog around.
6 sc.
Stuff very lightly.
Close the opening.
Wrap white yarn vertically around the ball to create the blue and white striped effect.
Add a small row of clear or metallic beads underneath the ball.
TASSEL
Cut approximately 30–40 strands of yarn, each 35–40 cm long.
Use approximately 20 navy strands and 10–15 white strands.
Fold all strands in half.
Tie them securely underneath the striped ball.
Wrap navy yarn tightly around the bundle approximately 2–3 cm below the top to form the tassel neck.
Secure firmly.
Trim the bottom evenly.
The finished tassel should be approximately 15–18 cm long.
FINISHING
Lightly dampen the snowflake.
Place it on a blocking surface.
Pin all six points evenly.
Shape the blue border and straighten the snowflake.
Allow it to dry completely.
If necessary, apply a small amount of fabric stiffener to keep the snowflake flat and defined.
For the closest appearance to the photograph, use deep navy blue yarn, warm white yarn, clear faceted crystals, pearl beads, and a slightly thicker yarn for the snowflake.
