Materials
- DK cotton yarn: approximately 250–350 g cream, 150–200 g dusty pink, and 75–100 g sage green
- 3–3.5 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle, scissors, and blocking supplies
US abbreviations: ch = chain; sl st = slip stitch; sc = single crochet; hdc = half double crochet; dc = double crochet; tr = treble crochet; st = stitch.
1. Cream circles — make 3
Work in joined rounds. Beginning ch 3 counts as the first dc; join each round to its top.
- Round 1: Make a magic ring. Ch 3, work 11 dc into the ring. Tighten and join. 12 dc.
- Round 2: Ch 3, ch 1, then repeat (dc in next st, ch 1) around. Join. 12 dc and 12 ch-1 spaces.
- Round 3: Ch 3, dc in the same stitch, ch 1. Repeat (2 dc in next dc, ch 1) around, skipping the previous round’s spaces. Join. 24 dc and 12 spaces.
- Round 4: Ch 3, dc in the same stitch, dc in the next dc, ch 1. Repeat (2 dc in the first dc of the next group, dc in its remaining dc, ch 1) around. 36 dc and 12 spaces.
- Rounds 5–16: Continue increasing once in each group: work 2 dc in its first stitch, dc in each remaining stitch, then ch 1. Skip the old chain space. Each round adds 12 dc.
- Edging: Ch 1, sc in every dc and once in each chain space. Join and fasten off.
Stop earlier or add rounds to reach approximately 30–35 cm diameter. Keep all three circles the same size. If an edge ripples or cups, check tension and block a sample before continuing.
2. Pink flowers — make approximately 16
Green center:
- Make a magic ring.
- Ch 1, work 16 sc into the ring.
- Join, tighten the ring, and fasten off.
Pink petals:
- Attach pink to any sc.
- Repeat (ch 4, skip 1 sc, sl st in next sc) around, finishing in the starting stitch. 8 loops.
- Into each loop work: sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc.
- Join and fasten off, leaving a long sewing tail.
These eight-petal flowers give a similar floral effect to the reference.
3. Green leaves — make 28–36
Ch 10.
- Starting in the second chain from the hook: sc, hdc, dc in each of the next 2 chains, tr in each of the next 2, dc, hdc.
- Work 3 sc in the final chain to turn the tip.
- Along the opposite side: hdc, dc, tr in each of the next 2 chains, dc in each of the next 2, hdc, sc.
- Sl st to the first sc. Fasten off, leaving a sewing tail.
4. Assemble the runner
- Block all pieces flat and let them dry.
- Arrange the three circles lengthwise, with small gaps between them.
- Position the flowers in a continuous S-shaped line: around the left of one circle, across the gap, then around the right of the next.
- Tuck leaves beneath the flowers, pointing outward.
- Sew neighboring flowers together, then secure them to the circle edges. Attach each flower at several contact points for stability.
- Sew the leaves securely underneath and weave in all ends.
Lay the finished runner flat and lightly steam-block according to the yarn’s care instructions.
