Pattern
Round 1 – Center
With mustard yellow, make a magic ring.
Ch 3, then work 11 dc into the ring.
Pull the ring closed and join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3.
You should have 12 dc.
Fasten off if changing color.
Round 2 – Center Flower
Join red yarn between any two stitches.
In each space around the center, work a petal made of:
3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc
Repeat around the entire center.
Join with a sl st and fasten off.
Round 3 – Green Petal Layer
Join forest-green yarn in a space between two red petals.
For each section, work:
3 dc in the space, ch 1, 3 dc in the next space.
Continue around until the flower is completely surrounded by green stitches.
Join with a sl st and fasten off.
Round 4 – White Petals
Join white yarn in the spaces between the green sections.
For each petal, work approximately:
5 dc in the same space, then sl st into the next space.
Repeat around the entire square.
Keep the white petals raised and slightly rounded to reproduce the dimensional appearance of the reference.
Round 5 – Red Square Formation
Join red yarn in a space between two white petals.
Begin forming the square by working groups of dc around the motif.
At each corner, work:
3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
Along each side, work 3 dc in each available space.
Continue around all four sides.
Join with a sl st.
Round 6 – Green Decorative Round
Join forest-green yarn.
Work 3 dc into each side space.
At each corner, work:
3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
Continue around the square.
Make sure the corners remain clearly defined.
Round 7 – White Detail Round
Join white yarn.
Work small groups of stitches along the sides to create the white decorative petal-like sections visible around the flower.
At every corner, work:
3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
Join with a sl st.
Round 8 – Final Border
Join the desired border color, such as red, green, white, or mustard yellow.
Work sc evenly around the entire square.
At each corner, work:
sc, ch 2, sc
Continue around all four sides.
Join with a sl st.
Fasten off and weave in all ends securely.
Blocking
Lightly dampen the finished square and gently stretch it into an even square shape.
Pin the four corners and sides in place and allow it to dry completely.
Finished Size
Approximately 8–10 inches (20–25 cm), depending on yarn weight, hook size, and tension.
