1. Angel Head – Skin Color
R1: 6 sc in MR (6)
R2: inc around (12)
R3: (sc, inc) ×6 (18)
R4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 (24)
R5: (3 sc, inc) ×6 (30)
R6–10: sc around (30)
Place the eyes between R8–9, about 5–6 stitches apart. Embroider a small smile and add pink cheeks.
R11: (3 sc, dec) ×6 (24)
R12: (2 sc, dec) ×6 (18)
Stuff firmly.
R13: (sc, dec) ×6 (12)
R14: dec ×6. Fasten off.
2. Curly Hair – Brown
Attach brown yarn around the head. For each curl: ch 8–12, work 2–3 sc in every chain, then sl st into the next stitch around the head. Repeat until the sides and back are filled with curls.
3. Red Angel Body/Dress
R1: 6 sc in MR
R2: inc around (12)
R3: (sc, inc) ×6 (18)
R4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 (24)
R5: (3 sc, inc) ×6 (30)
R6–10: sc around
R11: (4 sc, inc) ×6 (36)
R12–15: sc around (36)
For the white trim, change to white yarn and work (sc, ch 2, sc) in each or every second stitch around the bottom to create a soft scalloped edge.
Stuff the upper part lightly and sew the head securely onto the body.
4. Santa Hat
With red yarn:
R1: 6 sc in MR
R2: sc around
R3: (sc, inc) ×3 (9)
R4: sc around
R5: (2 sc, inc) ×3 (12)
Continue increasing gradually until the hat fits the angel’s head, approximately 30 stitches.
Work 2–3 straight rounds. Change to white and crochet one fluffy/scalloped round. Make a small white pom-pom and attach it to the tip.
5. Wings – Make 2
With cream yarn:
Ch 7. Starting in the 2nd chain: sl st, sc, hdc, dc, dc, 5 dc in last chain. Continue on the opposite side: dc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st.
For a larger wing, work another round of sc, hdc and dc increases around the outer edge. Fasten off and sew one wing to each side of the angel.
6. Small Hands
Make two tiny skin-colored arms/hands.
R1: 6 sc in MR
R2–4: sc around.
Lightly stuff or leave flat. Sew them together at the front of the dress.
Add a small white bow beneath the angel’s face.
7. Green & Gold Spiral Ribbons
Make one in green and one in mustard/gold.
Ch 90–120 depending on the desired length.
Work 3 dc in every chain from the 3rd chain from the hook. The strip will naturally curl into a spiral.
For a more open, lace-like look similar to the photo, use:
dc, ch 1, skip 1 stitch, dc along the chain, then work a second decorative round around the outer edge.
Stretch and shape both spirals gently. Cross them around each other to create the Christmas double-spiral shape.
8. White Star
MR, then repeat 5 times: ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch, sc in next, hdc in next, dc in next, sl st into MR. Pull the ring closed and fasten off.
9. Red Heart
R1: 6 sc in MR
R2: inc around (12)
R3: (sc, inc) ×6 (18). Make two circles like this.
Join both circles together with several sc. Continue around both pieces, gradually decreasing toward the bottom until a heart shape forms. Stuff lightly before closing.
10. White Snowflake
Start with 6 sc in MR.
For each of 6 branches: ch 6, sl st back along the chain, adding small ch-3 picots along the branch. Sl st into the next stitch of the center ring and repeat.
Block the snowflake with a little starch if you want it to stay crisp.
Assembly
Attach the angel to the wooden ring with red yarn. Hang the two spiral strips beneath the angel, crossing them in an elegant double-helix shape. Run a red cord vertically through the center. Attach the white star near the top, red heart in the middle, and white snowflake near the bottom. Finish with a pearl bead and red bell.
Tip: Use tightly worked stitches and a smaller hook than your yarn normally requires so the angel and decorations keep their shape.
