Materials: Red, white, black, orange, green, and burgundy yarn; 3–3.5 mm crochet hook; fiberfill; black safety eyes or embroidery thread; small black beads/buttons; gold bells; thin hanging cord; yarn needle; scissors.
Abbreviations (US terms):
MR = magic ring, ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, inc = increase, dec = decrease, sl st = slip stitch.
1. Snowman Head
With white yarn:
R1: 6 sc in MR.
R2: inc around = 12.
R3: (1 sc, inc) ×6 = 18.
R4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 = 24.
R5–7: 24 sc.
Add eyes, embroider the smile and pink cheeks, and make a small orange carrot nose.
R8: (2 sc, dec) ×6 = 18.
R9: (1 sc, dec) ×6 = 12. Stuff firmly.
R10: dec around, fasten off.
2. Snowman Body
White yarn:
R1: 6 sc in MR.
R2: inc around = 12.
R3: (1 sc, inc) ×6 = 18.
R4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 = 24.
R5: (3 sc, inc) ×6 = 30.
R6–10: 30 sc.
R11: (3 sc, dec) ×6 = 24.
R12: (2 sc, dec) ×6 = 18.
Stuff, close, then sew the head securely to the body. Add 3 small black buttons.
3. Arms
Make 2 in white:
Ch 9, work 8 sc back along the chain. Fasten off and sew to the sides of the body.
4. Red Scarf
Ch 35–40.
Work 2 rows of hdc. Add small fringe at both ends and wrap around the snowman’s neck.
5. Hat
Start with burgundy or red yarn.
R1: 6 sc in MR.
R2: inc around = 12.
R3: (1 sc, inc) ×6 = 18.
R4: (2 sc, inc) ×6 = 24.
R5–8: 24 sc.
Add a small brim and decorate with green leaves and red berries.
6. Large Crochet Spiral
Using red and white yarn, make a long foundation chain of approximately 120–160 chains.
Work several stitches into each chain to force the strip to curl naturally:
Row: 3 dc into each chain across.
For a striped effect, alternate red and white sections or crochet separate color rows. Add a white picot/scalloped edging:
Edging: (sc, ch 3, sl st into first ch, sc) repeatedly around the outer edge.
Shape the finished strip into a large vertical spiral like the photo.
7. Crochet Hearts
With red yarn:
MR, ch 2, 3 dc, 3 hdc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, 3 hdc, 3 dc, ch 2, sl st into MR.
Pull the ring closed. Make several hearts and attach them on short hanging cords.
8. Snowflakes
Crochet small white snowflakes using a simple six-point motif:
MR, ch 5, sl st into MR ×6.
For more detail, add picots along every chain loop.
9. Large Top Bow
Crochet two red rectangular panels approximately 10–12 cm wide. Fold and pinch each piece in the center. Wrap a narrow crochet strip tightly around the middle and stitch firmly. Attach the hanging cord behind the bow.
Assembly
Arrange three snowmen vertically inside and around the red-and-white spiral. Position the largest snowman near the top, the second in the center, and the smallest inside the lower circular section. Sew every snowman firmly to the spiral so the decoration keeps its shape.
Attach red hearts, white snowflakes and small gold bells along thin cords around the spiral. Finish with the large red bow at the top and several bells at the bottom.
Finished size: approximately 70–90 cm long, depending on yarn weight and spiral length.
