Spiral Ornament
Start with the colored yarn.
Make a magic ring.
Chain 2, then work 12 double crochets into the ring. Pull the ring closed and join with a slip stitch.
For the spiral body, continue working in rounds of double crochet while gradually increasing stitches to create a long, flexible tube. Keep the stitches slightly loose so the piece naturally curls.
Continue crocheting until the spiral reaches the desired length.
To create the twisted shape, gently stretch the crocheted tube and wrap it around itself into a spiral. Secure the bottom with a few stitches.
Cream Spiral Detail
Attach cream yarn along one edge of the colored spiral.
Work a continuous row of single crochet or slip stitch, following the spiral upward. Keep the stitches evenly spaced so the cream stripe follows the entire twist.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Crochet Star
Using cream yarn, make a magic ring.
Work 10–12 stitches into the ring and close.
Crochet five evenly spaced points around the center:
Chain 3, work double crochet stitches into the same space, then make a slip stitch into the next space.
Repeat this sequence five times to form five star points.
Tighten the center and weave in the yarn ends.
For a raised 3D appearance, crochet a second star and join the two stars around the edges with cream yarn. Lightly add stuffing before completely closing if desired.
Joining the Star and Spiral
Place the star at the top of the spiral.
Sew the top of the spiral securely to the back of the star using cream yarn.
Make a small crocheted hanging loop with cream yarn by chaining approximately 20–25 stitches.
Join the ends together and sew the loop securely to the top of the star.
Finishing
Shape the spiral gently with your hands so the twists are even.
Adjust the cream stripe so it follows the spiral neatly.
Trim and hide all loose yarn ends.
Hang the finished ornament on a Christmas branch, wreath, garland, or Christmas tree.
