Materials: medium-weight yarn in green, red or cream, 3.0–3.5 mm crochet hook, small gold beads, jingle bell, tapestry needle, stuffing for the star if desired.
Abbreviations:
CH = chain, SC = single crochet, HDC = half double crochet, DC = double crochet, SL ST = slip stitch, INC = 2 stitches in the same stitch.
Star Top:
Make 2 identical stars.
R1: Magic ring, CH 1, work 10 SC into the ring, join.
R2: Repeat 5 times: (SC, HDC, DC, CH 2, DC, HDC, SC) to form 5 points.
Fasten off. Join the two stars together with SC around the edge. Lightly stuff if you want a raised star. Add an embroidered snowflake in the center.
Spiral:
CH 65–75.
Row 1: Work 3 DC in each chain across. The strip will curl naturally into a spiral.
For a thicker spiral, work one additional row of SC around the outer edge.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Bell Motif:
R1: CH 12, work SC across.
R2: CH 1, turn, INC in first stitch, SC across, INC in last stitch.
R3–5: Repeat Row 2 until the bell becomes wider at the bottom.
Finish with a small scalloped edge: SL ST, 3 DC in next stitch, SL ST in next stitch across.
Crochet or sew 2 small green holly leaves and add 3 small red berries to the front of the bell.
Assembly:
Attach the star at the top, then add a small gold bead underneath. Sew the spiral below it. Add another bead at the bottom of the spiral, then attach the crochet bell. Finish with a large jingle bell at the very bottom.
Add a CH 25–30 hanging loop to the top of the star.
