Materials
- Crochet yarn in white, green, or red
- Small amount of contrasting yarn for decorations
- Crochet hook suitable for your yarn
- Tapestry needle
- Small gold bead
- Fiberfill
- Optional: small jingle bell
- Star Top
Make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 2, work 10 dc into the ring. Join with a sl st.
Round 2: In each section, work:
sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc
Repeat 5 times to create the five-pointed star. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Add a small snowflake, flower, or decorative beads to the center.
- Spiral Cord
Chain approximately 45–55 stitches.
Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 3 sc in each chain across.
The strip will naturally curl into a spiral.
For the two-color effect, crochet a second thin chain in a contrasting color and sew it along the spiral.
- Crochet Bell
Round 1: Make a magic ring and work 6 sc.
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch — 12 sc.
Round 3: 1 sc, 2 sc in next stitch — repeat around — 18 sc.
Round 4: 2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch — repeat around — 24 sc.
Rounds 5–9: Sc around.
Round 10: Work a decorative contrasting-color round.
Rounds 11–12: Sc around.
Finish with a slightly wider decorative edge using the contrasting yarn.
- Bottom Pom-Pom
Make a small crocheted ball:
- Magic ring with 6 sc
- Increase to 12 sc
- Work 2–3 rounds of sc
- Add a little fiberfill
- Decrease until closed
Sew the ball underneath the bell.
- Assembly
Sew the spiral securely beneath the star and attach the bell to the bottom of the spiral.
Add a crochet chain loop at the top and attach a small gold bead beneath the star.
For the three versions shown:
- White: white + gold
- Green: dark green + gold + red
- Red: red + white + green
This gives the same festive bell-and-spiral ornament style as the image.
