Halloween Cat, Pumpkin & Spiderweb Crochet Garland
Materials
- Black crochet yarn
- Orange crochet yarn
- Cream or ivory crochet yarn
- Small amount of yellow yarn
- Crochet hook suitable for your yarn
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Fiberfill, if making the cats slightly raised
- Optional small black safety eyes
1. Cream Crochet Doily
Round 1: Make a magic ring. Crochet 12 single crochets (SC) into the ring. Join with a slip stitch (SL ST).
Round 2: Crochet 2 SC in each stitch around. Join.
Round 3: 1 SC, 2 SC in the next stitch. Repeat around.
Round 4: 1 SC in the next 2 stitches, 2 SC in the next stitch. Repeat.
Rounds 5–8: Continue increasing evenly while creating an open lace pattern with chains and double crochets (DC).
Finish with a decorative scalloped lace edge. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
2. Orange Spiderweb
Create a small center ring with orange yarn.
Work several rounds using chains and single crochets, increasing outward to form a six- or eight-point spiderweb. Connect each point with chain spaces to create the open web design.
Finish with a neat orange border and leave a small loop at the top for attaching the garland.
3. Crochet Pumpkin
With orange yarn:
Round 1: Magic ring, 6 SC.
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around.
Round 3: 1 SC, 2 SC in next stitch. Repeat.
Rounds 4–7: Continue increasing until the desired pumpkin size is reached.
Work a few rounds evenly, then begin decreasing to create the rounded pumpkin shape.
Add a black jack-o’-lantern face using black yarn:
- Triangle eyes
- Triangle nose
- Smiling mouth with small teeth
Add a small black or brown stem at the top.
4. Black Crochet Cat
With black yarn, crochet a simple cat silhouette:
- Oval/rounded head
- Two pointed ears
- Small body
- Four short legs
- Curved tail
Add two small yellow eyes with yellow yarn. Embroider the facial details in black.
Keep the cat slightly raised so it stands out against the cream doily.
5. Small Crochet Bats
Using black yarn, make small bat shapes with:
- Small central body
- Two pointed wings
- Tiny ears
Attach the bats between the larger pieces.
6. Assembly
Arrange the pieces vertically in this order:
Cream doily → pumpkin → spiderweb → black cat → cream doily → pumpkin → spiderweb → black cat
Add small bats between the sections.
Sew each component securely together with matching yarn. At the top, create a strong orange hanging loop.
