This is an original, untested pattern inspired by the photo. The exact stitch counts and construction cannot be recovered from the image.
The runner uses separate flowers, leaves and spiral motifs arranged around a curved green ribbon, then connected with cream crochet mesh.
Materials
- Cotton yarn in sage green, cream and dusty pink
- 2.5–3 mm crochet hook, matched to your yarn
- Yarn needle, scissors and blocking pins
- Full-size paper template or blocking mat
Use the same yarn weight throughout. Make one flower first to check the size and firmness.
US abbreviations
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
BLO = back loop only
MR = magic ring
1. Six-petal flowers
Make 6–8 flowers, alternating pink and cream.
Round 1: With the center color, work 6 sc into a MR. Join with sl st. (6)
Round 2: Work 2 sc in each stitch. Join. (12)
Round 3: Change to the petal color. Repeat 6 times:
[Sl st in next stitch, ch 3, work 2 tr in the following stitch, ch 3, sl st in that same stitch].
Fasten off.
For fuller petals, work 3 tr instead of 2 tr. Leave a long tail for sewing.
2. Pointed leaves
Make 12–18 leaves in sage and cream.
Ch 12.
Starting in the second chain from the hook, work:
sc, hdc, dc, dc, tr, tr, dc, dc, hdc, sc.
Work 3 sc in the last chain to turn around the tip.
Continue along the opposite side of the foundation chain:
sc, hdc, dc, dc, tr, tr, dc, dc, hdc, sc.
Join with sl st and fasten off.
For a raised center vein, surface slip stitch from the base toward the tip. Keep these stitches loose so the leaf stays flat.
3. Spiral medallions
Make 4–6 in cream and pink.
Work continuously without joining rounds; use a marker.
Round 1: 6 sc in a MR. (6)
Round 2: 2 sc in every stitch. (12)
Round 3: [Sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch] × 6. (18)
Round 4: [Sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch] × 6. (24)
Round 5: [Sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch] × 6. (30)
Round 6: [Sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch] × 6. (36)
Round 7: [Sc in next 5 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch] × 6. (42)
Sl st in the next stitch and fasten off.
Raised spiral: Using the same color, surface slip stitch a continuous spiral from the center outward, following the rounds. Keep the tension relaxed.
These circular motifs approximate the spirals in the photo.
4. Curved sage ribbon
Make a narrow strip that can be blocked into flowing S curves.
Ch 9.
Row 1: Sc in the second chain from the hook and across. (8)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in BLO across. (8)
Repeat Row 2 until the ribbon reaches your desired length when arranged in gentle curves.
To shape a bend: Work the following pair of rows:
- Shaping row: Ch 1, turn. Work 2 sc in the first stitch, sc in the next 5 stitches, sc2tog over the last 2 stitches. (8)
- Return row: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (8)
Repeat this pair 3–5 times for a gentle bend. For a bend in the opposite direction, place the decrease at the beginning and the increase at the end.
Alternate curved sections with straight rows. Lay the ribbon flat frequently; the number of shaping rows depends on your yarn and tension.
5. Optional small berries
Make several in dusty pink.
Round 1: 6 sc in a MR.
Round 2: Sc around. (6)
Round 3: Sc2tog three times. (3)
Fasten off, draw the opening closed and leave a sewing tail.
6. Arrange the runner
On a full-size template:
- Pin the sage ribbon into a long, flowing S shape.
- Place spiral medallions in the spaces beside the curves.
- Alternate pink and cream flowers along the ribbon.
- Add leaves around the outer edges.
- Place berries in small clusters.
Keep neighboring motifs close enough to connect with short mesh bridges. Sew together any edges that touch.
7. Connect with cream mesh
With all pieces pinned flat, join cream yarn to a sturdy edge stitch.
Ch 5, sc into a nearby motif edge. Continue making ch-5 bridges, anchoring each with sc.
Fill larger gaps with additional rows of mesh:
Ch 5, sc into the next chain space or motif edge.
Adjust individual bridges to ch 3–7 as needed. The mesh should lie flat without pulling the motifs inward or sagging.
Work in small sections, fastening off and rejoining wherever necessary.
8. Finish
Weave in all ends. Wet-block the runner flat, gently opening the mesh and shaping the flowers and leaves. Allow it to dry completely before removing the pins.
For a longer runner: Add more flowers and spirals, extend the sage ribbon, and repeat the arrangement before connecting the mesh.
