Prep Time: 25 minutes Cook Time: 6–8 hours on LOW Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 1 large green cabbage
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cabbage
Remove the core from the cabbage. Boil the whole cabbage for 5–8 minutes until the leaves soften. Carefully separate the leaves and let them cool.
Step 2: Make the Filling
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3: Stuff the Cabbage
Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the center of each cabbage leaf. Fold the sides inward and roll tightly.
Step 4: Prepare the Sauce
Mix tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.
Step 5: Assemble the Slow Cooker
Spread a little sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down and pour the remaining sauce over them.
Step 6: Slow Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours until the cabbage is tender and the beef filling reaches 160°F (71°C).
Step 7: Serve
Transfer the cabbage rolls to serving plates. Spoon the rich tomato sauce over the top and serve hot.
Tips
- Use large cabbage leaves for easier rolling.
