Ingredients
1 large green cabbage
500 g ground beef
1 cup cooked rice
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried parsley
2 cups tomato sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup beef broth or water
Instructions
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and place the whole head in the boiling water. Soften the leaves for a few minutes, then gently peel them off and set aside.
In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, paprika, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
Place a portion of the filling onto each cabbage leaf. Fold in the sides and roll tightly to form a log shape.
Heat olive oil in a pan and lightly sauté the rolls for a few minutes for extra flavor.
In a large pot or baking dish, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down.
Mix remaining tomato sauce with tomato paste and broth, then pour over the rolls.
Cover and simmer on low heat for 45 to 60 minutes, or bake in the oven at 180°C for about 1 hour until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
